  Died Thursday evening November 16, 2006. Bill was born February 10, 1925 in Battle Creek, Michigan, a son of Arthur and Luler (Morse-Johnson) Barber. During WWII, he served with the U.S. Navy. He had been a Kalamazoo area resident since 1979, coming from Grand Rapids. He was employed with Modern Tile and Carpet for many years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of the Lighthouse Community Church and the Bogue's Rogues military organization. He was also the past commander of the American Legion. He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers; and 4 sisters. On October 13, 1979, he was united in marriage to Carol J. (Cooper) Barber, who survives. Also surviving are 4 children, Steven (Kathryn) Barber of Newaygo, MI, Sharon (Rick) Fedoruk of Berrien Springs, MI, Beverly Mercer of Dutton, MI, and Edward "Lee" (Diane) Bylsma of Grand Rapids; 15 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ray Barber of Portage; 2 sisters, Leona Schmier of Flint, MI, and Lilly Donahue of Beloit, WI; and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held 11 o'clock Tuesday at the Lighthouse Community Church, 4321 S. 11th Street. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. Private interment will be in Genesee Prairie Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Salvation Army or the Lighthouse Community Church. 343-1508.
